Your Online Business Destiny #YOBD – Lesson 1

The “Critical Steps” to realize Your Online Business Destiny

“People are not lazy. They simply have impotent goals – that is, goals that do not inspire them.”  – Anthony Robbins

The first few lessons in Your Online Business Destiny (YOBD) are designed to solve the very real problem outlined in the Anthony Robbins quote above.

In Your Online Business Destiny, you will:

  1. Create your inspiring Online Business Vision
  2. Identify your short-term achievable goals
  3. Take immediate steps to achieve your goals
  4. Develop a plan to keep your momentum going

Before we get started, take 30 seconds to consider the following 3 questions:

1. How much money would you be happy earning online?

2. How much would you be ecstatic earning?

3. How much time each week are you willing to invest to achieve these goals? (Starting with this course).

Record your answers somewhere. This simple exercise can have a powerful effect on your mind. Where your mind goes, your body will follow!

Sound good? Let’s get started …

What is your Life Vision?

The standard reasons for starting an online business go something like this:

  1. Flexible work hours
  2. Desire to work from home (or anywhere)
  3. Low financial risk (compared to “brick and mortar” businesses)
  4. Modern tools that lower technical barriers to working online
  5. The ever increasing tendency for people to buy online

These are all perfectly good reasons to create your own online business. However, in this course you will dig much deeper.

You will uncover some deeply personal reasons that are unique to you.  Reasons that will help you form a unique vision for your online business that aligns with your Life Vision, and drives you to succeed.

The process of attaining a Life Vision can take on a profound quality in some cultures. A “Vision Quest” typically involves fasting while spending some days out in nature alone.

Contrast that with western culture, where it is not uncommon for people to hear an idea in the midst of their hectic lives and decide: “that sounds good”.

They may get excited about the profit potential and the results others have achieved using a particular strategy.

This can lead them on a journey that may not be aligned with their values or core competencies. Such journeys often end in disappointment.

“So often people are working hard at the wrong thing. Working on the right thing is probably more important than working hard.”Caterina Fake, Co-founder, Flickr

You need a compass. That compass is your Vision. It can be derived from your past experiences, both good and bad.

Within those experiences are kernels of ideas you can connect together to create a powerful Life Vision. A powerful Vision can take you beyond a life of ambition into a life of meaning.

When there is meaning attached to the work you do, you are more likely to love doing it.

Some online strategies will support your Vision better than others. Before you choose the tools for the job, you need to know what the job is!

The upcoming Vision exercises in Lesson 2 will help you to know yourself at a deeper level. You will connect the dots of your personal experiences to come up with a Vision with the power to inspire you daily.

Every significant life change must begin with a significant change in your own mind. Where your mind goes, your body will follow!

That is why the ideas you generate in Lesson 2 will be so critical to your success.

Lesson 1 Homework Assignment

Most people start earning an income online by promoting other people’s products as an affiliate.

Why? Because it is easy to get started and simple to do compared to creating your own products to sell.

And it is the only strategy you need if you know how to go about it.
